The number one reason why contractors love using adhesive glass tapes over glue is because it can stick to almost any surface condition, but this is also the reason why it is hated when it comes to the time of removal.
Heavy-duty glass tapes are very sticky, gooey, and removing them following your initial application is always a huge challenge. However, there are a few tips you can use to make things a little easier and remove the tape and the residues without any problems. Some of them include the following:
Do a small test
Begin by conducting a small test with the residue remover in the section of the glass that will not be easily visible. This is to ensure that using it will not cause any damage on the glass surface.
Do it quick
While removing residue after the application of glass tape, you should do it as fast as possible. If you remove it slowly, there will be flow and separation, which will lead to more stickiness. But when you rip it off in one quick move, it not only becomes easy to remove, but it also comes off in a clean manner. This may not be the case with all glass surfaces, but it will yield very good results on most surfaces.
Scrape it
To get rid of the small amounts of residue, which may still be present after you peel the tape off, use a putty knife to gently scrape off whatever might still be remaining on the surface. Be gentle so as not to cause unnecessary scratches on the glass surface.
Clean off with warm soapy water
To clean the surface and completely get rid of any remaining residue, use warm soapy water with a soft piece of cloth for washing the area.
