PTFE Fabric – The Solution You Hadn’t Considered Could Be Just What You Need

What is it about PTFE fabric that makes it so strong and resistant? And how can this product be useful to my business? PTFE fabric tape offers durability and strength that can’t be beaten. It can be customized to meet an infinite array of size, shape, and thickness specifications. For temporary use, PTFE tape is easily removed, leaving no residue. That makes it safe to use – particularly in the food industry.

What is PTFE Tape?

PTFE is essentially a fluorocarbon solid. This makes it very durable – able to withstand extreme heat and cold. It also makes it resistant to most corrosive chemicals and UV rays. Not only that, the fabric itself is a good insulator that repels water. This makes it ideal for use in and around electronics. In short, there are very few environments in which PTFE fabric tape would not perform well.

How Is PTFE Tape Made?

  • A woven fiberglass substrate is submerged in a PTFE bath.
  • The coated substrate is tracked up a drying tower.
  • The process is repeated to increase longevity.
  • Each coating increases the chemical abrasion, tear and puncture resistance.
  • The PTFE coated fiberglass carrier is then etched for good adhesion.
  • It is coated with a high-temperature, silicone adhesive system.
  • A release liner is nipped in directly to the adhesive system to allow for easy application in end uses.
