How to Choose the Right Transfer Tape

How to Choose the Right Transfer Tape

There are different types of transfer tapes available on the market, and each type is not suited for universal applications. This means that every time you buy a transfer tape, you should have a good idea of its intended application and where you will be using it, so that you choose the most appropriate type.

Here is a brief guide to help you make the right choices:

The size of the tape

The size of the tape you choose should be based on the size of the project you need it for. If you work on bigger projects, then 12-inch wide transfer tape would be the most suitable, but if you work on smaller projects, then just 6-inch tape should be enough. It is vital to ensure you choose the correct tape size because this will not just help you get the work done properly, but it will also ensure that you don’t waste a lot of the tape.

Clear Vs. paper transfer tape

You will also have to choose between clear transfer tape or paper transfer tape. Both will offer great results, but there are a few factors you should consider that will influence your choice. They are as follows:

  • If you are selling decals, then you should use a clear transfer tape so that customers can see what they are buying.
  • If you will be doing a wet application, then paper transfer tape would be ideal because they are made of plastic, and water can’t evaporate through them. But the paper tape has breathing spaces to allow for moisture to escape.
  • If you are using small decals or they need precise positioning, then clear transfer tape would be preferred, since it makes it easy to position the vinyl.

If following the above tips, you should not find it challenging to choose a transfer tape suitable for your application. If you have any doubts, don’t hesitate to discuss them with the vendor so that they can guide you appropriately.
